2012 F150 - In need of some clarification

Post by jnetlabs » Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:01 pm

I upgraded the head unit in my 2012 F150 using the Maestro RR and everything is working great. I am now moving on to the speakers and need some clarification on whether I am now free to pull out the factory amp. Are the door chimes routed through the stereo or are they sent to the factory amp directly from the idatalink Maestro RR? The plan is to use the RCA preouts on my new head and bypass the speaker level outputs but I just want to make sure my door chimes and such will still work. Thanks, and sorry if this is a stupid question.

The chimes are not routed through the radio in this truck. In some vehicles, they're played by the amp, and in some, they're played by the gauge cluster.

Wow. I'm an idiot. I listened a bit more carefully to where the chimes were coming from and they are indeed coming from behind the dash. Thanks!
