2018 Base Subaru WRX Maestro install

Post by Tpelleg3 » Fri Aug 31, 2018 12:27 am

OK so I attempted to install the maestro rr and the subaru wire harness (su2 or something) with a pioneer avh-500. I had all the wires correctly wired to the pioneer harness and everything is plugged into the maestro. The radio won't turn on, originally I got the 2 red blinks. I took a piece of wire and connected the blue wire from the pioneer harness and the maestro harness and tapped directly into my oem harness in the car, green light flashed and then no lights. Radio powered on but not getting anything to work like Bluetooth or radio or anything. I put a cd in my headunit it works. Can turn up and down volume using the headunit not the steering wheel. Headunit also says something about the how it needs the maestro to use this feature or some shit. I'm so confused because this isn't a plug and play thing like I expected. I can see that I'm going to have to tap into my wires soon.

We aren't able to cover the 2018 yet because it's different than the 2017, in terms of the wiring and the data communication occurring in the car. This is one of the big reasons why nothing works.

I saw something about downloading the 2017 files? I just want a radio to work with Bluetooth so I can actually listen to quality music and get rid of this dookie. Oem headset. The 2018 has been out over a year still can't figure out it

That won't work. That's why we don't list it as covered on our website. We're working on getting it covered, but in the meantime, the existing firmware is not compatible with this car.

OK well I tried the 17 firmware and it works. Bluetooth works, but I can't get my backup camera to work. I'm thinking somethings not plugged in or because it's the 17 firmware not 18?

Yes. Because of the difference in the data systems, you're not going to get voltage from the backup camera on the 18 until we cover it, same with TPMS and gauges, if i recall correctly.
