Kenwood DNX9990HD lost support of idatalink serial cable

Post by TomV » Wed Aug 08, 2018 8:25 am

My car is a 2009 Ford Fusion w/Sync and I've been running an idatalink Maestro since it was first introduced with a Kenwood DNX9990HD.

Since the last time I flashed the module to rev 2.2 , the voice control on the steering wheel had become flakey... so I tried to flash it to rev 2.6 a couple days ago. BIG MISTAKE!

It was about 5 years since the last time I flashed, and I didn't realize the only choice for the Kenwood DNX9990HD was "Wired Remote Input" until after I flashed. Somehow the idatalink master database lost support of idatalink serial cable with the Kenwood DNX9990HD. Now my radio has no OEM integration at all which makes it essentially worthless.

I contacted idatalink support, but haven't heard anything yet. Rather than email them... I decided to post this here to get status on a solution and warn others of reflashing with this radio.

I just tried to "Flash by user firmware" option and see [2.6] now instead of [2.2] so I tried it, but unfortunately the Kenwood DNX9990HD is not in the selection list. It only shows (DNX5060EX, DNX5190, DNX6190HD, DNX6990HD & DNX7190HD) none of which accept my units serial number. Please continue to work on the issue. Thanks, Tom V.

Also, this is what my Maestro RR is currently at, according to the web's re-detect feature.
Firmware: ADS-RR(SR)-FOR01-AS-UN1 (256) (2.4)
Hardware: RR (256)

Great! That worked! Thank you!

Unfortunately, now I'm having a different issue of getting it programmed with the radio. I can't get the "Next" option after Finishing the OEM selections, thus the OEM integration or steering wheel controls don't work. Actually I can't even get it to power off. Any chance you provide me rev 2.2 again now that I can successfully flash?
