2011 Outback - Did I order the wrong harness

Post by smrbrts » Tue Jul 24, 2018 10:52 pm

I have a 2011 Outback Limited 3.6R with a 6 CD stock head unit model PE605U6 and speakers that say Harmon Kardon. There is large rear driver that I expect is a Sub.So when I have steering wheel controls and Bluetooth dialing (not Bluetooth stereo output to the head unit. I ordered the RR and SU2 harness.

I soldered the harness, but now that I removed the stock radio I'm beginning to think I have the wrong harness because I accidentally selected 2012 when I was trying to find the parts. The stock head unit had no less than 5 connectors. The SU2 harness has three connectors and only one of them the widest white connector has a match in the vehicle. The harness has two connectors with flat (small blade) type connectors, but the vehicle only has one of those type and the connectors don't really match.

How can I recover from this mess I created?

unfortunately 2011 and 2012 having the same package (Bluetooth and HK) uses different harnesses, as you found out. 2011 uses the SU1 while the 2012 uses the SU2 harness. I would contact the place you got the harness from and see if they will let you swap it out with the SU1 harness.

I assumed as much and ordered the SU1 this morning. And I was really proud of my solder/shrink tube work...I guess this one was just practice.
