Unused wires: Kenwood ddx9903s and RR SU2

Post by smrbrts » Sun Jul 22, 2018 9:27 pm

I've got a Kenwood ddx9903s and the RR SU2 for my 2012 Outback with the Harmon Kardon but no Nav. As I wired the harness I noted three wires that don't seem to be in use and wanted to just confirm that this is normal.

From the Maestro harness there is a yellow/black wire that I don't see in the documentation anywhere. Also from that harness is a pink wire for which there is no Kenwood equivalent. The documentation lists this one as a speed sensor and points out that the Kenwood harness doesn't have this wire.

On the Kenwood side there is a blue/yellow wire for steering wheel controls that isn't mentioned in the radio wire reference chart.

At present my plan is to cap these with some shrink tube.

Thanks. Now I'll get up the nerve to take the old working radio out...
