2007 Civic Si w/ Nav- Steering buttons & Backup Camera

Post by 8thGenBill » Wed Jul 18, 2018 4:18 pm

Hello,

I just recently installed a Pioneer MVH-1400NEX unit into my 2007 North American Civic Si w/ factory Nav with Maestro RR.

The Vol & Ch buttons on my steering wheel work, but not my voice command/back button. The Maestro RR was flashed initially before setup (2 days ago). Where did I fault in the installation? I took the factory harness with 5 pins (I think the connector was green, currently it is not physically connected to anything), and took the 4th pin wire (also colored green) and spliced in the orange/red wire into it.

Do the Maestro performance gauges work with my application? I have the OBD2 connector installed, but cannot get any gauges to appear.

Lastly, my backup camera does not work when I'm in reverse gear. I tested the 12V power source, and the camera receives steady 12V power (because it is spliced into red accessory wire). So it is not a question whether it has power or not. When splicing the Pioneer harness to the HO1 harness, I was sure to match the purple/white reverse gear signal wire from the Pioneer harness into the HO1 harness purple/white wire labeled (Reverse Light (+)). The Pioneer head unit setting was placed for "Back up camera: On".

If I have the key in either I or II position (without engine running), the backup camera will display in neutral and all forward gears. I cannot manually exit out of the camera mode. When I put it in reverse, the unit responds by stopping the backup camera, and I can function the Pioneer unit as normal.

So it appears my reverse camera function is... reversed. How do I troubleshoot this?

instead of the orange/red try connecting the pink/red wire.

Yes, you should have gauges. Are you getting any type of error message when looking at the page for the gauges?

The purple/white from the Pioneer is only connected to the purple/white of the HO1 harness, correct?

Hi Justin,

Thank you for your reply.

I'll try the pink/red wire(?) instead for the back & voice command button. I'll have to open it up and take another look.

The gauges worked after I did a Maestro reset- no errors.

I had the backup camera working properly for weeks, but I had to disconnect the battery today. Now neither "Battery" nor "Ground" Setting in the Pioneer head unit works when I select reverse. I can get an image when I select "Camera View" within Pioneer's UI, so camera still works. I tried another reset to no avail. Any tips?

Thanks,

Bill

You can try resetting the maestro. Check the setting in the radio for the camera and make sure the interruption is on. and check in the maestro diag menu to see if it is recognizing the signal from the car. If everything is set properly and we arent seeing the signal from the maestro run the reverse to the reverse wire in the vehicle.
