2018 Subaru Pulled from web page

Post by jkolly » Wed Jun 13, 2018 9:33 am

Support Team,
Found a few weeks back you had firmware and documentation for 2018 Subaru cars including the Impreza. I had been waiting for this to replace the factory amp. I purchased a DSR1, amp, harness and loaded the firmware. The install was a bust no sound, 12V remote turn on for the amp not there. Went back to your web site to make sure I had everything loaded and correct and noticed the 2018 Subaru's are now missing? What happened? When will this be fixed?

We are working on getting the coverage updated and this issue resolved. We initially opted to cover the 2018 but it looks like those vehicles are a little different than the prior years. Our R&D team is going to see more 2018 year-model subarus to check our coding and get it back up on the site.

Dara,

Thank you for the reply. I managed to reinstall the factory amp but have issues due to the fact I had also replaced the factory speakers during the upgrade and the ohm rating of the factory speakers are 4, 5, and 8 ohm for the fronts. The factory amp now will go into protect mode at about 3/4 volume. I am hesitant to remove the panels and put the factory speakers back in if the new coding will be available soon. It is just unfortunate to sit on the DSR1 and replacement amp as I have a limited time to return each item.

Please keep us updated on your teams progress.
Thank you,
J. Kolly

Dara,
Is it possible to flash the DSR1 with the universal firmware AR-DC-UNI and try it with my configuration or is that firmware only good for use with a Maestro RR?

Thanks,
John

If you installed it post-amp, that would work, but the OEM amp would need to be left in place- It controls your volume knob and fader. If you removed the OEM amp before the maestro firmware is ready, your radio would pretty much be unusable.

We figured out what the issue is with the firmware and are working to update it to include the 2018 models, but I don't have an ETA on it right now.

Dara,
I am in the same boat as jkolly... I'm glad that I didn't get as far as he did as I was still waiting on the delivery of the products to install. However, I'm very interested in the ETA of the 2018 firmware update for the installation of this product on a 2018 Subaru Impreza as well. Can you please send me a notice of when the newly updated flash will become available? I'd rather not simply check for the new code every day until it arrives. Is that possible?
Thanks for the available forum to find out the latest information. Hopefully, the update will occur soon, and we can get on with the installation! I'm pretty excited about the upgrade, and I hope we don't have to wait too long for it to become available. I'm also on a return timeline of sorts with the associated hardware (Kenwood amp, harness, sub, sub amp, etc). If you believe this update will be timely, I'll hold onto what I've purchased... right now I think I have around a month to wait before I get too antsy...
Have a great weekend!

Dara and or support team,

Any updates, news on this firmware? Do you have a beta version anything I can try and send you my results? I am nearing the end of my return policy for both the DSR1 and amp.

Please let me know

I just checked again with our R&D Tech- it will be at least a few months. These cars fell into a completely different platform than we came across in testing, which means we're going to have to re-validate, make all new code, and test. It will be a bit.

Dara
Any news on this it has been a couple months. If you have any information please post.

Thanks
John K

Dara, Team,

Is this still ongoing? Unfortunately I was unable to return my order without a very large restocking fee. Any guestimate on a release?

Thank you,
John K

We have seen a vehicle, taken more readings on it, and it looks like the 2018 model uses a completely different data system for its amplifier (can instead of AVC Lan). Because of that, we have to code a completely new firmware.

The engineer that codes this is on vacation for 3 weeks so every one of his projects are on hold until he returns.

Thanks for the update Dara. The support team on the phone was a bit more optimistic a few weeks back but I guess it is what it is. One last thing 3 weeks vacation? Are you hiring?

After a short 5 years of working here, you too can get 3 weeks of vacation per year!

Is your programmer back? Let them know if they make this a priority I'll buy him or her a case of Labatt Blue or Molson Canadian their choice.
