2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

Post by Rhinohawk » Tue Apr 24, 2018 5:46 pm

Hey all

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the Alpine system. It’s the same basic 10 speaker system as previous years, but now with ANC and the CarPlay HU. As a result, the amp has the same 3 harnesses as the Jeep HK system, not the two harnesses as previous Alpine systems. This (along with the speaker wiring diagram) needs to be changed on the website, so others don’t waste time/money on the wrong harness as well. It clearly says 2018 GC on the site.

Anyways, two questions:
1) I have system sounds, but no Siri through the speakers. Jeep voice command works with feedback, but not Siri voice. Is this something that can be adjusted through a software update?
2) Is anyone running rear fill using L-R, R-L wiring? Wanted to see if anyone had experience using the DSR1 this way before I wire it all up

thanks!

Did your harness come with little 2-pin resistor packs? They are pretty small, and have heatshrink on them. If so, did you use them on all of the 2 pin connectors of the harness?

Hey Dana,

The harness I’m currently using (ach4) came with a pack of 4 resistors that I am currently using. Without the resistors the speakers had no sound.
The system voice command (vs Siri) works but is jarringly loud even when turned down all the way - I saw you were able to fix this for the Ford Focus - it would be awesome if the same type of fix could work in my Jeep.

Thanks

Latest updates seemed to have fixed my navigation/chime volume issues. Still no Siri.

Ok, I want to make sure i'm following you- you said in your last post that Siri is very loud, but in your most recent post, it says 'no siri'. Just to be clear- which is it; Is siri too loud, or you can't hear it at all?

No - in my previous post I referenced voice command (native Jeep system) vs Siri voice (CarPlay). The system sounds including voice command are back to a normal volume. There is still no volume for Siri using CarPlay or Siri hands-free.

When you updated, did you update both the rockford fosgate firmware and the maestro firmware? Just checking.

Yep...first the RF followed by a full reflash. I tried setting it up as new just in case it was an issue with my previous settings, but no luck.

Bumping this thread...I assume there's quite a few '18 Grand Cherokees out there with the same config by now. Hopefully you guys can iron out the last few major bugs, or someone has a fix/workaround.

Thanks!

There have been quite a few updates to both the RF firmware and ours in the last month. If you're not up-to-date, please update the firmware both from us and RF and see if your issues are resolved.
