New Kenwood DMX905S in 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Post by aprachar » Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:29 am

I just installed a new Kenwood DMX905S in my 2011 Grand Cherokee. I've noticed two things. For steering wheel controls, holding the volume button up or down does not continuously raise or lower the volume, the buttons have to be repeatedly clicked, this wasn't how it worked with my previous Pioneer unit or the factory radio.

Also, the left steering wheel function button used to toggle between radio presets. That also no longer works, now it toggles through preset sets. There's 4 presets per set. When I hit that button, instead of going from preset 1 to preset 2, it will go from preset 1 to preset 5.

Is either of these things fixable? Thanks!

so to answer your questions, no volume will no longer work like it did with the factory radio. that is just a limitation of the aftermarket radios capabilities.
As for the preset button you current have it configured to do Band & Folder which it seems to be doing by your description. you may just want to pull the maestro and reflash it so you can configure the steering wheel buttons as you would like them.

I just pulled it out to reflash it, turns out I don't have any preset related options to program, wouldn't this be a basic operation? I have seek +/- and I have the Folder Band +/- but nothing to change presets.

Never mind! Just found what I needed in another thread, I should be able to change the seek function to do presets instead from within the deck. Thanks for the help!
