Sync Issues

Post by Dathmus » Wed Apr 11, 2018 11:07 pm

Hi, looking for some assistance.

I have a 2014 Ford Mustang with Sync. I installed a Kenwood DMX7704S radio with Maestro. Everything seems to be working except for the voice, phone, and ok buttons on my steering wheel. During the installed we pulled down the sync harness and tried to locate the SWI2 wire. We found 3 blue wires. We scraped all 3 and attached a multiimeter to watch the voltage as we pushed the buttons. After locating the one that showed voltage and dropped during the button press we cut that wire, attached the pink cable to the steering wheel end, and taped off the Sync end.

What we are seeing is when I hit one of those three buttons the first few times, the maestro blinks green but nothing happens. After a few button presses the light stops blinking green until I hit one of the other working buttons like volume or media. After that I will get a green light again but only on the first few presses.

Once we did hear Sync start to speak ("Sync. Please--"), but it was cut off, and there was no prompt or change on the screen. We have not been able to replicate this.

On the flash I choose to keep sync bluetooth, sync media player, and steering wheel controls.

Any suggestions on what I can try to get Sync to work. The only thing we've noticed during the install is that the black 10-pin plug going into the Maestro is very hard to seat. It eventually clicks in after much effort but looks very slightly slanted.
