Toyota CHR 2018

Post by BillT » Mon Mar 26, 2018 6:27 pm

Hello There,

There is no software available for my Toyota CHR 2018 yet. So I was wondering if I could use the 2018 Toyota Corolla iM instead. The two cars use the same Pioneer radio and have the same number of steering wheel control buttons for the radio functions. My CHR radio menu has setting where I can select a CHR or Corolla iM, witch lets me to believe they could be comparable. Any info will be appreciated.

Because we don't list your vehicle yet, that means we haven't had a chance to test and validate that it's the same as any other vehicle. You can try it at your own risk; most toyotas are pretty similar to one another for basic things like steering wheel controls, but some advanced features may not work if the coding is different from the Corolla iM.

Hi Dara,

Thanks for your quick replay. I think, I will wait until the software is available for my car. The purpose of replacing the brand new radio is the addition of futures that Toyota does not offer on this model. I am not willing to risk loosing futures to gain others ones.

Regards,

Bill

Hi Dara,

I was wondering if you would know if the Toyota 2018 CHR uses a T02 harness.

Thank you,

Bill

Bill,
We are going to cover it under TO1 and the TO1 harness. It should be added to the site today.

Hi Dara,

I have the radio coming with the iDatalink RR module and T01 harness. I been reviewing all the installation docs. The install guide shown once I select the CHR on the site does not have the CHR yet (ADS-RR(SR)-TOY01-DS-IG). Could you let me know witch model to refer for the radio harness to the T01 harness wire connections or will I need a different specific diagram for the CHR.

Thank you,

Bill

Assuming your vehicle has no JBL, you can follow any guide of a non-JBL car. There won't be any backup camera wiring, since the backup camera should show in the mirror.

Bilt, any luck? I've gotten all my parts laid out on the floor and I'm hoping the RR and To1 would work.

We removed coverage for this car because the data for the gauges and TPMS cannot be found at the OBD2 like in other Toyotas. We are working on finding an easily accessible place in the car to get these wires, and then we will update our coverage.

I have my set up running for few months. To add to Dara's comment, I can say I did quite bit of work with tech support to make it work. The problem was the parking break status is not on the OBD2 connector like other Toyotas. I had to tap some other can bus connector to find parking break status. The parking break status is essential to run android auto among others. The app would not set up if the parking break is not detected set. At the end I just grounded the radio parking break sensing wire and has been working flawlessly. Also like Dara says I am not getting all the info that the Idatalink module is capable of reading, like doors status. However there are good number of parameters/gauges that are been read and display, like tire pressure and temp, coolant and oil temp, engine load, intake air temp, etc.

I can understand why the car is not been supported yet, since you will not be able to get full use of the module as yet. I am ok with the parameters that I have for now. I would post pics of my radio but I think I need authorization from the moderator to do so.

Gotcha, thanks for the response. Dara, Bilt.

I'm torn whether I want to do partial feature like yours, but hmm. I guess I'll have to table the upgrade for now just to not have to do it twice..

Dara, if it'll help, I'm willing to send a box of donuts to the team hoping that it'll be the catalyst to a break through

Are there any updates? I just bought a head unit after being under the assumption the C-HR was compatible. Getting ready to send it back if it's not going to be available for a while...
