Fatal error detected

Post by jflan49 » Fri Jan 22, 2016 3:16 pm

I have been using weblink mobile for my iPhone 5 for a couple years, I've never had issues until the last two months. First it was picky about connecting to a blade through a compustar 7200. Well now it won't read the module and tells me there is a fatal error. Any ideas?

You need to update the firmware on the weblink mobile. Take it to your PC flasher. Unplug the 4 pin on the PC flasher. Then plug the weblink mobile into the PC flasher. Go to www.idatalink.com and press flash your module. Update the firnware and you are done.

I have attempted that. My weblink pc updated works fine and I just flashed a blade. However when I plug the mobile into pc flasher the program doesn't recognize it. The green light on the mobile flasher will flash once, however it gives me "please connect a module to your pc using a compatible rs232/ usb cable."

Thanks

Check to make sure your cables are fine. I've had to toss 3 of these so far because of broken wires near the connectors

I'm still getting Fatal Error every time as well....first time using a new iPhone WLM kit, I did the firmware update with the PC Flasher (twice just to make sure...) Tried with an iPhone and an iPad Mini on two different CM6000s with BladeALs. They are both already programmed and installed (I wanted to change some settings in them), but I made sure the main Power connector was unplugged....
I've tried bringing the starter brain in and just using the ADS-USB to do my changes, but I can't get it to talk to the brains anymore. Because of this I finally got this WLM kit....what stumps me is the ADS-USB working to flash the WLM kit, but not the brains. and still.....FATAL ERROR, every time :(

The Blades have to be made after January of 2014. Anything before that will not work. They are not compatible.

One of the Blades is dated 2014-04-04. I didn't check the other one yet. I saw the note that came with the WLM kit that anything prior to Sept 2013 wouldn't work. Either way, April of 2014....?

Take the blade out and see if it detects the 6200.

...no change :? still Fatal Error. Everything unplugged and Blade pulled out. It's a 6000, not at 6200, but I don't think that really matters in this case?
I used to be a Compustar/iDataLink installer for a few years but had to move due to military and I don't have my resources anymore  These are just our personal vehicles, but still would like to figure out what's going on. The other Blade I'm almost 100% certain is pre Jan 2014, so I'm okay with that one as-is.

Has the 6000 been updated? You need another remote start brain or ALCA to see if the issue is your starter and not the flasher.

The 6000 would have been updated somewhere around July/August 2014 when I transferred it from the previous vehicle to the current. That is also when I added the BladeAL and flashed it for the current vehicle. Since then I have not been able to get my USB flasher to work with this brain. I called iDataLink tech support about a year ago to figure out why my USB flasher was no longer working and he determined it was either A)the 4 pin cable between Flasher and Brain, or B)something in the 6000. Considering the USB flasher was brand new and had only been used this once, otherwise was kept properly in the box it came in, I would hope the cable was still fine. (However, I know we used to go through these all the time at my old shop  ) Again, this odd issue is what led me to finally getting the WLM to hopefully bypass the issue. Updating the WLM with the PC Flasher didn't use this 4pin cable, so I still don't know about that

SOOOO, either there have been more updates since that time in 2014, and/or there is some issue in the 6000 and I'm S.O.L. without replacing it.... :? It has been working fine installed, I've just been having some tach sensing issues and I don't know if it's set in Tachless mode, or it's not getting a proper tach signal from the CAN-BUS! (2006 Jeep Commander)

If that is the case, regarding my 2nd 6000 that has a BladeAL from before Jan. 2014- should it still show up in the WLM with the Blade pulled out? It is installed in an odd place that is really hard to get to, so I haven't tried to dig it out yet just to "try" this. I think this one was installed in 2012 sometime, so it would also have outdated firmware. It's at least another brain to try?

Being that you don't work at a dealer anymore and don't have any current product to test in it's place, there isn't much you can do. Do you have any contacts at a dealer that can help you?

I'm in Hawaii now and I think I remember looking a while back and there weren't any out here on my island. My old shop is back in North Dakota, and I can def. still hook up with them, it's just a long way away and not worth the effort to be shipping things back and forth from here. I'll try and look again for something more local....
Thanks for your help!!

For curiosity sake, what is the new software version of the Weblink mobile supposed to be? I was having the same issue - and just flashed it for the first time - old firmware was 1.4 and so is the new one it flashed with - creation date of July 23/2014.

I had to drive back to the shop to update it, so I just flashed the remote starters as well. I'll test it out tomorrow to see if there was a difference.
