DSR1/2013 Ford Flex

Post by TOM@GS! » Tue Feb 13, 2018 6:22 pm

Installed the DSR1 in the above vehicle, and having a few issues. We replaced a previously installed DSP with the DSR1, so on the amp/speaker/sub end, everything has been working for almost a year with no problems. And, we did flash the DSR1 with RF's latest firmware before flashing the Maestro firmware.

1) The volume knob, source button and swc lockup intermittently, usually during a BT phone call, and do not function again until the ign is cycled off/on.

2)When "AV1" is selected as a source a very loud tone comes though the system, which can not be turned down with the volume.

I called tech today about the loud tone and was told it wasn't the DSR1, but after talking to the customer, it was not doing that until we swapped out the DSP. The volume knob being inop didn't happen, of course, until I delivered the vehicle. The last issue, which is probably on RF's end, is the BT link. It seemed to work fine on my phone as I did the initial set up, but now will not sync with either my phone or the customers.

Thank you,

When you did your install, did you use the aFO2 harness? If so, did you modify it at all? I am just curious, bearing in mind that you had another processor in there first, if the harness was plug and play, or if you had to modify it to make it work.

We're looking into finding a similar vehicle to test and see if we can replicate these issues.

I did not have to modify the aFO2 harness. The original DSP was installed on the output side of the factory amp, but it did not "fix" the sound quality.

Just got the vehicle back in my shop. Customer had to jump start it this morning, battery was dead. Just pulled the DSR1 out and it's light is blinking a slow green.

The volume is still fixed, when you turn the knob you can see the on screen bar go up/down, but no actual volume change.

As for the noise in AV1, that should be resolved in an update from Rockford.

Have you reset the DSR1 by unplugging it, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in?

I ended up reflashing the DRS1 with the RF firmware and Maestro firmware. This seemed to take care of the volume issue, the BT link issue and the DSR1 turning off. The AV1 problem was still present. Let the vehicle go and the customer has not called with any complaints.
