2015 Tacoma - park and reverse need additional wiring

Post by bsaunder » Sat Jun 24, 2017 12:42 am

This is more as an FYI - when using the T01 on my 2015 Tacoma, the reverse line needed to be wired to the OEM harness as did the parking line. Neither was connected to the T01 harness from the OEM connector and the lines from the Maestro never toggled.

The wiring documentation labels the parking line from the Maestro as "parking brake" - Is that signal triggered only when the brake is applied, or will it also go when an automatic transmission is in P?

We generate the parking brake (-) signal when we see you're pressing the parking brake. It's a convenience thing, to keep you from having to run the radio's parking brake wire all the way down to the brake.

What about just the transmission being in P though? For the purposes of a radio function interlock, that is sufficient, no? I would assume that's an easy firmware change to make, and ask the user which they prefer? It's getting it off CANbus, I would assume...

No. The radio manufacturer requires a parking brake input for safety reasons. We do detect your gear, but unfortunately, we can't use it to automatically bypass the safety functions.
