16 Wrangler Pioneer 4200NEX

Post by am944 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 9:28 pm

Hey there, so I installed a Pioneer 4200NEX in my wrangler with the maestro rr and the CH1 harness back in the spring. Everything worked out great and I love it! Now I'm trying to go back and swap out speakers, add a 4 channel amp, and a powered sub.
I really don't want to have to re-wire the car for the speakers. I was hoping to cut the HU harness' speaker wires (that I had already soldered in my original install) that connect to the CH1, run RCAs from the HU to the amp, and then, if possible, I would solder the amp's speaker out harness to the CH1. Is this possible? Is this stupid? Is there a better way? TIA!!!!

As long as your vehicle wasn't equipped with an OEM amplifier, that should work. Just make sure that nothing is hooked to the speaker wire outputs of the radio, and you'll be good to go.

Thank you for your help! A follow up question:

1. I do NOT have the factory amp, but am adding one as described in the previous post. Do I still go white to green harness and green to white harness?

Thank you so much again!

Yes- you want your front outputs to send to your fronts, and your rear outputs to send to your rears.
