No backup signal

Post by fuzzy » Tue May 01, 2018 9:45 pm

Hi

2014 RAM Promaster 2500, Diesel with 6 sp automatic-manual
Maestro RR
CH3 Harness
Pioneer AVH-2300NEX S/N QITM025845UC
Firmware flashed on April 30
Using 3 wire parking brake bypass

Everything works perfectly
Rear Camera image shows when selecting camera
>>When selecting R the backup camera does not show.<<

Played with the rear camera 'signal' setting in Pioneer that set it to voltage or ground with no change.

What am I missing?

Hello,
Most likely the reverse signal is not on the data bus because of the hybrid automatic-manual transmission in the Promaster. You will have to get the reverse signal somewhere else in the vehicle, either in a kick panel or worst case at the reverse light itself.

Ok thanks. It's great having an odd vehicle!

Somehow though the stock HU is able to see the reverse signal. Is there a way to understand/find that signal?

it's possible the reverse could be on the bus but because of that specific transmission we may not had access to it. The reverse wire should be either a Gray/Light Green stripe or a White/Light Green stripe in the drivers kick panel. Make sure you test the wire.

Thanks Bill,

Would I be looking at the fuse panel or literally under the shift selector mechanism?

It won't be near the physical shifter. The wire he's talking about is running from the taillights, from the rear of the vehicle to the front.

Ugh - ok - what a pain. It would be nice if the documentation highlighted that this does not work with the harness.
