2013 Jeep SRT blind spot detection issues after Alpine/Maestro installl

Post by Carbon6 »

Had a local shop install the Alpine 009x in my 2013 SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They are well known in the area and have plenty of experience installing 009x in vehicles. During the install I noticed my blind spot LEDs would remain illuminated despite clearing vehicle. Normally, the lights would illuminate in the side mirrors and would clear as soon as the passing vehicle would come into peripheral view. NOW, the BSD lights will stay illuminated long after the vehicle would clear. In heavy traffic, it will stay illuminated cont because of this new delay, making this safety feature essentially useless. Any ideas or recommendations? Can we disable/disconnect the parking features on the maestro but still retain obd2 and steering wheel functionality?

We are aware of the issue and trying to locate a vehicle so we can see it an fix it. Where are both of you located?

on the jeepforum they give me this diagram of The BlindSpot, it seems on the CAN IHS bus along with the radio and a bunch of other stuff. Perhaps removing the radio causes a IHS signal integrity issue that affects the Blind Spot module. Here the diagram https://ibb.co/eUDQD5 can this help you to resolve this issue?

I don't think that's it. We're monitoring the HS can, as well as other can networks. We need to physically see a vehicle that is having this issue in order to resolve it.

The Blind Spot Module needs to receive data from the radio at least every 5 seconds or it throws a fault. This is probably Nav data like speed and drive/reverse. Don't know if thats whats going on here, it would be nice to have a vehicle to instrument.

That's the issue- There were only 4000 of these vehicles made in North America with this trim, so we aren't able so source one easily.

Any resolution to this? I have a 2012 WK2 Grand Cherokee Overland with the blind spot detection. I test connected my AVH-4000NEX and noticed when I started the Jeep it showed the Blind Spot was not available. I really want this feature in my Jeep as I will be moving to North Dakota where dark snowy days and nights are frequent in the winter.

Thanks

Unfortunately, not yet. As stated above, this vehicle is VERY hard to find. We still have this issue open on our list of issues to revisit, but we haven't been able to locate a vehicle yet.

I currently live in Southern California but will be moving to North Dakota. I’d be willing to offer up my Jeep to help.

What city, I am the Maestro research and development manager and I just happen to live in Southern California too. I would be very happy to come see this issue and try to fix it.

I live near Temecula and work in San Diego. I have to send the radio in to get unlocked, because I forgot the password, but can hook it up to test.

At this post without a solution I will be returning the harness and RR. Hopefully a solution will be provided in the future. I really want to replace the factory radio but not if I have to give up all the capabilities on my WK2.
