Freezing/Climate issues/ Vehicle Health Report

Post by evilive213 » Wed Sep 13, 2017 1:16 pm

Please Help!!!

Ive had my setup now for 2 years, I have the Maestro RR with the Mus1 Firmware RR-FOR01-DS3 and Kenwood DDX5901HD. All professionally installed, all kenwood updates installed. Since I had the units installed on my 2014 Mustang Ive noticed a lag time in the touchscreen panel, also at no expected time I can be running the air conditioner as normal on the coldest setting(i live in TX) and the defrost comes on at full blast on highest heat setting and will not stop, or turn unless the car is turned off and back on multiple times, has been parked for a while, or the system is reset. When it does this the display screen reads Mustang and will not display the music playing like it normally does on the mustangs LCD display. Also I am not able to get my vehicle health reports through Sync like before I had this installed. It says cannot perform VHR at this time. Is this a known problem? is there anything I need to do? Please Help!!!!!

I'm having a hard time understanding - this issue has been happening for 2 years? Or did something change- was it put into a different vehicle?

For the vehicle health reports, there is a setting that needs to be changed so that Sync can connect to the vehicle. Under the Gauges setup, the OBD2 communication should be set to "enabled on demand".

Yes I have changed the OBD2 communication to enable. This is fine now.Yes the freezing got better with Kenwood updates but starting to do it again. The climate issue has happened 3 times now. The first was about a year ago, I didn't really feel it was an issue then seeming it possibly needed to be reset or updated, but it has started to do it more frequently and all the components are now out of warranty, and kenwood does not make the 5901hd anymore so there are no more updates on the unit. Nothing has changed, no new vehicles.

We have made several updates to the FO1 firmware within the last 2 years. Has the module been updated recently?

It has not that I am aware of. Is there a way to update it with it being installed? And Ive been fighting with the Weblink Updater trying to update it.

The RR cannot have power from the car or it will not detect on the computer. If you disconnect power from the unit, it can be re-flashed wit everything else still connected to the vehicle.

If you're having problems flashing, call us at the number in my signature and we can help you flash.

Great I'm assuming I will need the usb cable in order to flash the module? Also the Vehicle Health report still will not send. Ive tried with enabled and enabled on demand. Could something not be connected correctly?

Yes, the USB is for flashing.

That's the only thing that could conflict. You can temporarily disable the OBD2 communication while the health report runs, and turn it back on after.
