2013 Outback - Call answer and hang-up not working

Post by Stotes57 »

I just had a Pioneer AVH2400-NEX installed in my 2013 Outback Touring (CDN), to replace the stock radio - BT, no NAV.

Everything seems good except that I can't use the steering wheel buttons to answer or end a call. I have to use the touchscreen on the new HU.

Also, the radio reception is not as good as with the OEM unit. I have read about issues with connecting the antenna amplifier, but wondered if there is anything else we should look into.

Thanks.

What is the serial number of your maestro? To help with this one, we'll need to see how it was programmed.

From my HU

Firmware ADS-RR(SR)-SUB01-DS
FW version 01.50
Maestro SN 703760C2FF

Steering wheel control
System retained
SWI Group: 1B
SWI Input: 0
Button: 02
Command Out: 81

A few other things I've noticed after driving more:
- Even though I don't have a backup camera, the screen goes black in R
- The tuning button on the wheel only has one function - tuning up and down. With the factory unit, if I held it out would seek/scan
- The voice button (beside mode) does nothing.

My phone is a Pixel 2

Thanks

The trim of vehicle you chose in your flash does not have bluetooth. That is why the buttons aren't working. You'll need to flash for a 2013 Outback 'w/o factory navigation bluetooth'.

Thanks. I'll take it back to the installer to reflash.

Any thoughts on the radio reception other than making sure the amplifier is connected.

The OEM antenna may not be getting powered, or the adapter (if it's using one) may be bad. That's about all it can be.
