2018 Tacoma Steering wheel connection

Post by Beerostompo »

Hello and thanks for the help..

Alpine iLX-207 with Maestro RR.

How do I connect the steering wheel control? Alpine is a 3.5mm jack plug but the Maestro has the 3.5mm male end INCLUDING a blue/grn stripe wire (or vice versa).

I noticed another plug with the same 4 leaded plug on one end and 3.5mm male on the other but it's a bit inconclusive to what I can use it for.

Also - is every single connection plugged in on the RR? If so can I get direction to where to find that info out please?

Thanks for any input.

Steering wheel controls are handles through the r232 data cable, no need for the swi connector. As to your second question 4 connectors sound be connected to the RR module from the TO2 harness. I attached the install guide link below for a better reference so you can see which connectors and wires need to be connected.

Understood and thank you but problems remain.

FYI - Selecting a radio under the radio tab lets me choose Alpine iLX-207 but searching by serial number does not work but it does work when adding the serial number at the selected radio entry point picture. The search instructions for Alpine state that the S/N will be 9 digits without Alpha characters but it is contradictory to the selection at the radio picture with serial number entry point where I am able to leave the alpha characters in.

I am unable to do two things. 1) Connect to camera in reverse. 2) Enter the radio settings b/c the radio thinks that I am not in park. I tried both the yellow/black stripe wire and also the light green wire to no avail. Steering controls work.

I have tried multiple flashes trying the most current as well as the flash firmware far down the list designated for "Alpine".

The RR continues to double flash the red led after reflash as well as reset per troubleshooting in the wiring direction.

If you have 2x red blinks, we need to fix that before we can troubleshoot the other things. If you didn't get it to take your actual serial number, that is the cause for the 2x/red blink. I think it would be fastest and easiest for you to give us a shout at the tech support line when you're able to see the wiring and troubleshoot with us, and we should be able to get everything going for you.
