2018 Ford Focus RS volume level

Post by Outtafocus »

I am having an issue with my DSR1

First off, I am unable to find any firmware updates for the DSR1 on rockfordfosgate.com
I have downloaded new firmware previously V2.4.0.0
I am not sure if there is a newer version.

I have a 2018 Ford Focus RS
DSR1, Alpine mrv m500 and Alpine mrv F300 amps
JL 8" subs and DS18 Component speakers.

My issue is that I need to have my head unit volume set to 18-20 out of 30 to have sound loud enough to hear over road noise.
This is for both components and sub, neither have adequate volume for moderate listening.
All settings on the DSR1 are set to max except Punch EQ, all trims are at maximum also.
I don't believe I should have all of the settings at max.
I feel I should be able to have the system be louder without having the volume almost cranked.
The DSR1 has the iData files for a 2018 Ford Focus.
The input gain on the DSR1 reads 8.8dB

I reached out to Rockford with this same question, the response I received back was only links to installing a DSR1 in a Harley Davidson and some info on other products they produce.
Hopefully I can get a little better direction here.
Thank you.

Any ideas?

Can you pair to the DSR1 in perfect tune, go to the bluetooth menu, select 'details', and post a screenshot of that information?

Can you please try wiping the DSR1 in the DSR1 Updater tool and completing the flash process again but in the following order.
1st- Embedded Device (BLE Module
2nd- Maestro firmware
3rd- Rockford Fosgate firmware
Once completed test again for any change.
If no change is noticed with a digital multimeter set to AC voltage meter each of the outputs of the DSR1 at full volume playing pink noise and record the voltage output for each one.

I have reinstalled all of the individual firmwares back into the DSR1.
That seems to have made an improvement in the system output, I have also done further gain adjustments to my amplifiers.

Now with the volume level between 15-18 I get decent normal listening levels.
At 20+ the system is loud.

I am much happier with this setup now.

Thank you.
