2007 silverado install question

Post by H2Obuffalo »

I'm just wondering about the obd2 plug included with the GM5+ harness. How does it affect the operation of the system if it's unplugged for a code reader to be plugged in. Also, it is possible to just splice those 2 wires in permanently and have a reader access the port at the same time?

Same topic and answer can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=348&t=20463

The OBD2 is responsible for doing gauges and check engine light monitoring in this firmware. If you unplug it, those features will not work.

Dara,

Thanks for the quick reply, that post covered my question, sorry I didn't manage to find it when I looked through before posting.
I mostly wanted to know that the basic interface wouldn't be interrupted if it was unhooked for another reader. Hopefully I'll just be using the kenwood for codes anyways.
Thanks again
