Maestro rR and aR together

Post by 57hemi »

I'm planning an update to my 2006 Dodge Charger with Nav. I've decided on a Kenwood deck and rR for integration. I'd also like to use the Kenwood XR600-6DSP as an amp replacement (and use the passthru for a dedicated sub amp). The aR doesn't list my Charger as compatible. Can I still use the aR to interface with the -6DSP (using t-harness for rR and aR)? I'm not married to the idea of the -6DSP but like the aR, amp and DSP all in one box.

My goals are to get a much better sounding audio experience but for a modest price (replacement of speakers/amp/HU but vehicle integrated as much as possible, with a DSP) . I've looked going the DSR-1 route as well but that has a higher price point for the DSP/AMP hardware.

Thanks for any help!

You can use the RR with the Charger with no issues, the AR on the other hand would not require a vehicle specific firmware hence the reason you dont see one but rather the universal firmware. With this setup, while yes it can be done, you have to factor in that you will lose the ability to fade audio due to the amplifiers limitation of only having 2 channels of input in universal mode. While the DSR1 does cost more it opens up your options to add whatever amps you want and need to power your setup which will have a significantly lower price point due to not having the DSP built in internally. So your end result is more flexibility, more power all at a similar overall price point. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck

Thank you Justin. I was hoping that the rr and ar would 'talk' enough to have that info. Now it seems to be 'how much do i want to pay for fade'...

I remember reading at one point a description on the xr600-6dsp about factory integration or 'control from kenwood head unit'... is that something that you are familiar with? Is there no way to take advantage of the idatalink ports on the kenwood hu and the -6dsp?
