LSX swapped Engine ECU OBD2 data Gauges solution.

Post by jbarnesga »

I plan to attempt adding the Maestro RR gauges to my '68 Chevelle with a LSX 6.0 ( 04 Escalade ECU)
I am using a Autosport Labs OBD2 CAN bus adapter to convert legacy OBD2 to CAN Bus . (pins 14 and 6)
I would also like to use the Vehicle Information for Check Engine feature, But I'm not sure this about the display only showing Check Eng. (i.e. will the TPMS and Door display still be in view with no data provided?)
Questions
1)What harness should I use to connect the MRR to a Pioneer AVIC-5201-NEX just for the ODB2 data?
2) Is there a wire Diagram for the MRR showing required power and grounds, inputs and outputs?
3) I have planned to use 07 Siverado 1500 (no buttons SW) ADS FIRMWARE with GM-5 harness (modified of course) for gauges and Vehicle Info. Will This work STAND ALONE ?
4) Am I missing something?

Engine Swaps are a huge market these days. The ability display MRR Gauges on all legacy OBD2, I think, Will be a big Item with Hot Rods, Pro-touring and millions for cars from 06 to 07.
So achieving this "Adaptation" should open a path for of thousands of builders, to include FooSe, Kindig, and others to use Idatalink products.

04 Cadillac Escalade didnt use a HS CAN system for diagnostics , it uses a single wire J1850-VPW data line the RR will not work on these systems

I understand that the Protocol is different and not used by MRR .
That’s the purpose of the OBD2 protocol adapter ( mentioned in The second line) Now legacy OBD2 protocols J1850 PWM,J1850 VPW ISO 9141-2, ISO 14230-4 will be converted to ISO 15765-4 (HS CAN)
Although slower and will have fewer PIDs, the information will still be on the proper Bus.
This works the same as any generic OBD2 scanner using ElM 327 protocol interpretation.
I’m sorry if I didn’t convey that in the beginning, Please reread my post.
I know this is not a “normal” “follow the book” connection and is more generic than most.

Swing away and give it a go. Flash as a 10 Toyota Land Cruiser and follow the guide but other then that its nothing we tested so we dont have any data to confirm it is going to work.
