Maestro RR DEAD after firmware update and reflash

Post by ZipZapZot »

I recently pulled my Maestro RR out of my 2015 WRX to change the programming to the buttons. It was working fine before needing to update the firmware and-flash the unit.

It blinked twice when it was reinstalled but now no SWC work. The Forum Admin says to buy a new harness in other posts which should NOT be required if it was working fine before the flash.

Has anyone experienced this and have a better solution than dropping an extra $50 to get the controls back?

Justin,
I can't understand how to post a picture using the forum tools. I sent an email to you with picture attachments

That image is way too small to read any of the information needed off the sticker. Try posting it in a larger format

Thanks that is much better.
So looking at your flash history I see what is going on now. You originally flashed the RR back when we didnt have a solution and now we do which requires the harness. If you want to get the same functionality after you enter the year and make during the flash process DO NOT select the "WRX" but rather select "OTHER". If you want to more functionality Like vehicle features and TPMS then you will need to purchase the T-Harness.

OK ... next issue. After selecting the year of the car and "other" as the vehicle, I only get Kenwood or JVC as the available radios. I am using a Pioneer AVIC NEX 8200 so I am hoping you have another workaround.

Hi,
I am hoping you have another workaround before I move on to a Merta SWC system. I do like your offering as I had the ability to stream the data from my car to on-screen gauges using the Pioneer NEX head unit.

As Justin stated you would be best served getting the vehicle specific harness offered and flash for your specific vehicle to get the most functionality from your radio and RR. The original firmware that only did gauges and steering wheel controls didn't require the use of the vehicle specific harness back in early 2018 when you flashed it initially, but since then the newer firmware revisions do require it, but also provide more vehicle specific information to the radio.
