2012 GMC Yukon XL backup camera

Post by corynolen »

I ordered and installed from Crutchfield the following radio into my 2012 GMC Yukon XL with navigation and rear dual screen entertainment.

JVC KW-V85BT
iDatalink HRN-AV-GM2 Rear Seat
iDatalink HRN-RR-GM2
iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR

I had Crutchfield prewire the harness. I'm having a few issues hoping someone can help rectify.

1) Backup camera is sporatic, it sometimes works and other time it does not. The most curious thing is when you turn the key to "on" it powers up to a black screen with backup guidelines and "AV-IN" and will not go beyond this screen unless you tap the screen a couple times.

2) The third row video screen doesn't display the video played, the second row video plays properly.

3) The vehicle dimmer switch does not dim the radio screen.

Thanks!!

when the vehicle is powered on what does the led light on the maestro module do? is it flashing in any type of pattern?

Camera in these vehicles gets it power from the vehicle itself we are merely catching the video signal from the camera and piping it to the radio directly nothing more. I am more concerned with the behavior of the dimmer and radio starting up in the reverse screen which is extremely odd behavior. Have you verified that the JVC is running the latest firmware from JVC?

3rd row video is an easy fix
In Full size SUV's with 3rd row overhead, the 3rd row video wires can be found in the 20 pin black plug (plugs into the AVGM2), pin 8 vid + (Green) and pin 18 vid - (White). You just have to jump them over to the factory wires that are pinned to the RCA connector of the AVGM2

I'm not sure about the flashing/pattern. I'll have to remove the radio to look at this. The unit, after being powered down for a couple days, showed the backup camera on the first time I placed the vehicle in reverse, during the same drive it acted sporadically during subsequent reverse uses.

I spoke to Crutchfield and I DID update the latest firmware.

Thanks

yes we are going to need to get access to the back of the radio at this point for further troubleshooting.
