New Install

Post by Nappy »

Good morning Canada
I may have just found my answer, but I need to make sure!

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4 door Crewcab, standard radio with no extras. I received a Pioneer AVH-501EX for Christmas. I have not yet purchased any of your products to perform the install. I need questions answered first.

I have and want to retain OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, Steering Wheel Controls.
I have also installed an Edge Insight CTS monitor for monitoring my Engine. It is using the OBD2 port and I do not want to change that. I will NOT be using the radio to monitor the engine. Other items monitored are in the DIC in the dash, and that is fine where they are.

To install and retain those items I want to retain, your website states to use the Maestro RR and the GM5+ modules. (A side note... I will be ordering the needed parts on line. Most all are stating (when using their "check fit") the GM5+ does not fit my truck and are pointing me to the GM5). What do I do with that?

Now for the most important question as this will be a deal breaker. Must I connect to the OBD2 port?

Thank you in advance for your help. If I move forward with this install, there is no doubt I'll need more assistance. What happened to the days of a simple radio install?

you will not have an issue. GM5+ with the RR is all you need. When flashing uncheck gauges and dont plug the obd2 connector in when doing your install.
