2013 Mazda5 GT RR/RR2 install

Post by bradlee313 » Wed Dec 04, 2019 3:47 pm

Just bought a Mazda5 last night. It currently has BT steering wheel controls, Sirius, and backup sensors. Before the wife gets it, I'll be installing a Pioneer NEX4200 and a backup camera since there is no cam or display on the headunit.

With the RR/RR2 (if RR2 is available for it), what features won't be supported? I can't seem to find a proper T-harness, so I assume I'll have to find whatever aftermarket harnesses exist for the factory plugs and splice into whatever comes with the base RR/RR2 unit. Hopefully all of the various harnesses I'd need do exist. Asked somewhere else before started a new thread, but could I use the F01 harness and go from there? Or is it just too different that what I would need?

Thoughts, suggestions...?

The RR will only do steering wheel control retention and vehicle gauges, on an idatalink compatible radio. We do not have a vehicle specific harness that works with your vehicle, due to the limited amount of integration and there only being a few wires in the supplied harnesses to connect. You would install your radio with another 3rd party vehicle harness and kit, and piggy back the RR as shown in the install guide to get the gauges and steering wheel control integration. The RR2 is not yet available, but wouldn't do anything more than the RR except integrate with idatalink compatible radar detectors.

Radio is compatible. Are you saying this specific vehicle can do nothing more than steering wheel controls and gauges? No integrated Bluetooth. No Sirius integration. No proximity sensor. No error code reading/resetting. Nothing at all but steering wheel controls?

Correct, just steering wheel controls and gauges/engine code reset. The vehicle/product selector on our site tells you exactly what is covered.

Yes, I've checked that. The RR shows everything selected except for those features that are only in the RR2.

To me, that makes me think everything is supported. Unless this list is non-inclusive of all available RR features?

It would be great if that page displayed what factory features WILL NOT be retained.

If a feature isn't listed on the page then you can be assured it isn't retained.

How would a consumer be expected to know what all features would not be retained? Please list all features that ARE NOT retained with this installation.

We list just the features our interfaces will do/retain for a particular vehicle.

You're either completely missing, or consciously ignoring, the point.

The website was designed to show what our interfaces do and retain, i don't think I can be more clear on that. I would recommend that you talk to a certified, professional installation facility locally at deals with Maestro interfaces as they can help you determine if our product(s) are the right one for you since our website isn't giving you the answers you are looking for.
Please feel free to look into some of our competitors interfaces also as they may have a list of what they don't retain since we do not.
