Volume Up Changes Source on Factory Radio - 2013 Accord

Post by RedTail72 » Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:57 pm

So I've got the Maestro RR hooked up and as far as my Kenwood DDX9906XR the volume and track controls work fine. Problem is my factory head unit (hooked up so I can retain the iMid screen) turns on everytime I push the volume up button. This wouldn't be horrible but once it's on, volume up changes the source with each push. I've got the latest firmware on my radio and maestro, so not sure what could be going on. Any help would be appreciated.

Wiring may be minimal at first as it has all been buried in the dash, but I'll get a few pics and a video uploaded tomorrow.

Some pictures of the wiring, mostly showing which wires are used.

The reason the detection for the buttons is off, both on the RR and the factory radio is that you have multiple devices that have different pullup voltages/resistances on the same like that connect to the steering wheel controls. You cant have bot the factory radio and the RR connected and have the functions operate properly. It just wont work.

The RR is operating the Kenwood just fine, no problems there, just the added effect on the factory hu that is an issue. So cut the wires to the factory hu and life should be good? I wasn't try to maintain control of the factory hu from the steering wheel, just trying to keep the harness as factory as possible. Do I need to cut anything aside from the SWI FEED and SWI 1 wires?

To be clear, when I refer to cutting, talking about the wires on the factory HU side.

Yes. We don't intend for you to keep the OEM radio installed, so if weird stuff is happening, isolate those wires so that the steering wheel wires aren't connected to anything but the Maestro.

I'm keeping the factory hu installed to retain the backup and lane watch cameras, plus the fuel economy screen. Just to be sure, the RR isn't supposed to retain those cameras right? I've read about the RR doing that for some Honda models, but I never saw anything specific to the 9th gen accord.

I understand what you're doing. We do not have a t-harness solution for this car yet, so we're not able to retain more advanced features at this time. I'm just stating that if you're experiencing weird behavior, it's best to simply isolate that circuit. So cutting away the SW1 and feed wires from the OEM radio should hopefully resolve it.
