My 2010 wrangler c RR and CH1 doesn't power on.

Post by daeeui » Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:26 am

Hello,

I am installing JVC KW-v850bt radio on my wranger using RR with CH1. I plugged everthing correctly with guidance of manual. But radio(JVC kw-v850bt) do not power on and maestro doesn't light green on, too. I checked the power of my JVC radio and it was OK. I have reflashed the RR module but in vain. How can I check if my RR or harness is out of order? And how do I do next?
Sorry for my broken english.

if off make sure your wire harness is configured like this, paying attention to the Black and Red connectors in step 2.

If the harness is wired correctly you can reset the RR by unplugging all the connectors, hold down the reset button on the side, while holding down the button plug in the 3 pin power plug (Red, Yellow, and Black wires on it), keep the button held down till you see the led light flashing red, then let go of the button. the led should flash green and shut off. now reconnect the rest of the connectors to the RR.

I did reset procedure correctly several times, but it didn't work. After connecting to radio, the maestro keeps blinking red light twice , so I think It doesn't supply power to radio. Can't CH1 harness be defective rather than RR. What should I do?

the 2 red blinking lights means the RR and the radio are not communicating. Have you checked the red wire coming out the RR to see if it does have 12 volts on it when the key is turned on?
Also unplug the Jeep connector and make sure there are no bent pins in the connector.

When I plug connector to my original radio again, it works well so my Jeep connector is normal. I think power from the RR is absent although I didn't try to check. I checked my new JVC radio and it powered on normally. I'm wondering the CH1 harness is defective or RR is.

I'm spending too much time on this - about 40 days.
Should I exchange them? I bought them from amazon and I'm in Korea.

Please help me.

Well that might be the issue....our products are made for use with vehicles designed for North America. The coding may be different in the Jeep and therefore the RR will not work properly.

Do you mean that It will not function outside North America? I don't think so. Immediately after install it worked normally for a while and suddenly it shut down. I though problem happened in my new radio. So, I asked for exchange to the dealer and got new radio. That's why I spent time over 1 month on this. It worked normally outside North America. I don't understand why it's coding will not function outside the America with the same vehiscle made in US.

So there was a different (same brand) radio in there before and things worked, something that was never mentioned but is very important. So when you got the new radio did you reflash the Maestro and put in the new serial number of that radio?

Of course I reflashed it. The original radio of my wangler is brand of infinite and I confirmed it is exactly same as vehicle in US. The wrangler distrubued in Korea is absolutely same as one US.

At this point I would check to make sure the data cable (4 pin black connector on both ends) has continuity on each wire end to end, just to make sure there is no break in any of the 4 wires. If that check out ok then I would replace the RR.

I checked it's continuity and there is no break in cable. I think it is power problem of wire coming from CH1 harness or RR rather than data cable.

go ahead and replace the CH1 harness, it won't hurt anything, and see if that helps.

Ok then, please let me know how I can replace it. The deadline of cancel from Amazon is over. So I wound like to buy them(CH1 & RR both) again from Amazon. And if I send the my goods to your company directly, can you refund it?

My problem was solved. I rebought CH1 & RR and It works fine now. There must be defect on CH1 or RR device.
I've spent too much time on it.
