Grand Cherokee wk2 Kenwood freezes

Post by Edoardowk2 » Thu Aug 29, 2019 9:50 am

I replaced the VP2 5 inch Head unit of my 2014 wk2 with a new Kenwood DMX7706s, Maestro RR and CH3 harness.
Since Marstro did not offer a desk console, we connected the original one to the original plug of the wk2.
Initially we were pleased that all the original console operated perfectly and communicated with the Kenwood, however after using it a bit we noticed that there was a conflict. We called Maestro en the suggested we unplug the cask and reset the Kenwood and Maestro.

We did this which left the original radio , AC, and Parking Sensor/Anti slip buttons disabled

We reset the Maestro but not the Kenwood, since we do not have the SW and it operates well by itself on the shop bench.

In the car, which has a factory amplifier, the Kenwood freezes to the point it stops operating, and we reset to the Maestro

Any experience that can help me figure out the freezing?

In reality, before freezing, the Kenwood shuts down and restarts to the point that the Kenwood logo appears, and them shuts down and restarts again and again to the same point. Sometimes the radio starts playing before the Accept screen appears, but then it freezes. This rebooting rebooting goes on and on, and after a few times, the message “stop the car and turn off and on the ignition Apoears. At this point the Kenwood stops reacting totally.

Maestro products are only compatible in the North American market.

Post Update.

The problem was apparently caused by a defective Kenwood DMX7706S. We replaced such unit with a brand new DMX7706S unit and the maestro RR works perfectly with it.

We are only missing the use of the Hazard Flasher function , since we did not connect the 8 pin plug of the original bezel panel which includes the Hazard, Original Radio Knobs, AC, Park Sense and Fuel Economy buttons.

Please advise if there is a way to isalotae the Hazard control wire of such plug, in order to make that Hazard work?

Thanks

The hazards are not anything that we are integrating with on that vehicle currently. Those are handled by the aftermarket kits available for use here in North America.
