No sound out of tweeters

Post by billru » Mon Aug 19, 2019 9:58 pm

I installed a DSR1 in a 2019 Tundra with JL XD7005v2 amp, Focals KR2 165 speakers in the front, Hertz 170 speakers in the rear. I have flashed the DSR1 per instructions, my problem is no sound from the tweeters.

Can you post a screenshot of the DSR1 app and how you have the system configured?

So you're running the tweeter and the driver in the front doors off of the same channel?

If you have sound out of the door speaker but not the tweeter, then the DSR1 is functioning like it should, because it is sending sound to the amp. Check your wiring at the speakers and your crossover configuration.

I have checked wiring, I have tried 9 different tweeters still nothing, If you say the DSR1 is working right base on I have sound at the door then that leaves the amp but I have never seen an amp that would not play the lows but not highs. I am really confuse

If your tweeter and door speaker are on the same output channel, and the door speaker plays, the DSR1 is sending sound. So it is not the problem. If you have it crossed over incorrectly either in the app, or at the amp, that could be limiting the high frequencies and cause the tweeter not to play. Otherwise, it is something in how you have it wired in the door. From what you're telling me, though, the DSP is not the problem.

Hello Dara, one more question I am using the Factory JBL head unit could it not be sending the DSR1 the high enough signal to play the highs?

you might want to make sure you have a full range signal, and yes an amp can play lows and no highs....if the CROSSOVER function is turned on.

Not really; the signal out of the oem radio to the DSR1 is a flat 2 channel output.

Hello Dara,
I called JL tech and went through issue with them, they had me remove the input from amp coming from the DSR1 then had me connect my iPhone to the channel at amp saying an outside audio source would isolate the amp from the DSR1, the speaker and tweeter played with the iPhone connect to the channel. JL said the amp is working as I can hear the mids and tweeter and said the problem is before the amp. I went ahead and reflashed the DSR1 and reloaded my previous settings and to my surprise the tweeters are working, can you explain why the reflash fixed issue.

That's probably a question for Rockford. The signal coming out of the OEM radio is flat, so it had to have been rockford's DSP board limiting the output.
