2013 F150 K150, Maestro FF, +?

Post by rangerm2 » Wed Aug 14, 2019 1:40 pm

I've pulled the trigger on a K150 and intend to upgrade the 4.3" system in my 2013 F150 in the coming weeks. I'm leaning toward one of the Kenwood systems--probably one with wireless android auto and CD/DVD player (since I'd lose the stock CD player) Although, if anyone has a better/easier (to install) suggestion I'm open to ideas. I've installed car stereos before, but this is a bit more extensive than those.

In an effort to keep as many stock features as possible, I believe I need the following:

K150 (already purchased)
Maestro RR
SAT1
Terrestrial radio antenna adapter (not sure which one, but I saw it was recommended on another website)

Am I missing anything, or is the terrestrial antenna adapter unnecessary?

Thanks.

If you want to have FM radio, you need an antenna adapter. The most common is the 40-CR10.

Since you're an ADS member, perhaps you can enlighten me regarding how the system works once the RR is installed, please?

How does the Sync system interact with the new head unit (let's assume it's a Kenwood DDX9905s)? Specifically, when I want to make a call, I simply press the Voice button and tell Sync to call [Person]. Or, I say "Bluetooth Audio" and the radio switches. Does the Sync system still do this, or does it become superfluous as the new head unit does all that itself (through the Sync microphone, I assume)?

I suppose what I'm wondering is does Sync still do anything once the new system is installed?

The text and audio pass through from the sync module, and we put it on the radio.

You can use it for hands free calling, bluetooth audio streaming, and USB/Aux. You will not be able to use voice commands to pull up certain sources anymore, as the aftermarket radio isn't able to accept such a specific voice command.
