2012 Ram - no audio or steering wheel controls after install

Post by pwoens » Thu Aug 08, 2019 10:17 pm

2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with factory steering wheel controls, voice button, mic, sat, BU cam and amplifier

Kenwood DMX905S HU

Maestro RR
Maestro CH1
Maestro SAT1
Maestro AV

Soldered all connections following the manual. Flashed the RR following the instructions. Plugged everything in and RR has a green light. However, I have no audio whatsoever, and steering wheel controls do absolutely nothing.

What should I try?

Thanks

Do you have the blue/white wire hooked up between the CH1 harness and the Kenwood?

When you wired it up, did you hook up all 8 speaker wires?

How are the green and white 4-pin plugs configured on your CH1 t-harness?

When you press a button on the steering wheel, like volume up, does the maestro blink like it sees you pressing a button?

Good morning Dara,

You are AWESOME! First problem resolved. I should have double checked because I did miss the blue/white wire!! THANK YOU! I now have sound :)

Second problem; steering wheel buttons not working. I confirmed that when each steering wheel button is pushed that the maestro will blink a certain amount of times. Each button had a distinct amount of green blinks associated with it.

I did notice the kenwood harness has a blue/yellow wire that says "steering wheel remote input". However, the maestro install guide shows the maestro "steering wheel control cable" (blue connector with respective blue/yellow wire) as "not required"???

I sincerely appreciate your help.

The blue/yellow is not required. The steering wheel controls are sent to the radio via the data cable. If we're blinking when you press a button, we should be sending the commands. You may try resetting the radio, and resetting the RR. To reset the RR: In the kenwood, go to Setup > AV > OEM Setup > Maestro Features > Maestro Module > Master Reset

That was the golden ticket!!! It’s working great after a rest, thank you!!!
