2009 Acura CSX - Kenwood DDX9703S

Post by ekanson » Wed Jul 17, 2019 10:44 am

I just installed the Kenwood radio a couple of days ago on my CSX w/o Nav or BT.
It has same set up as the Honda Civic. Gauges work but the vehicle info page shows nothing. TPMS is blank (I've driven the car for 2 days now) and car door alert doesn't work. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

Is the vehicle equipped with TPMS? If you get low tire pressure, does the TPMS light come on on the dash?

I recommend trying two things:

-First, let's ensure that the OBD2 is connected, specifically the gray/red wire on that plug.
-Second, let's reset the RR. Go to: Setup > AV > OEM Setup > Maestro Settings > Maestro Module > Master Reset. If all the wiring is good and the signals are present in the vehicle, it might just be a hardware glitch. Resetting may take care of it in that case.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the car is equipped with TPMS. When I get low pressure, I get the low pressure warning light and when I switch to winter tires without the TPMS sensors, the TPMS light lights up on the dash.
I have checked the connections. OBD2 connection is good. I have reset the unit once already with no joy.
Door open alert also doesn't work. So aside the battery voltage on the vehicle info page, nothing else seems to work

We have one of these vehicles here, so we are going to test and see if we are able to replicate the issue. In the meantime, if you flashed your maestro using weblink desktop, you can try rolling yourself back to the previous version of the firmware by selecting v1.3 and see if it makes a difference.

I flashed using weblink via internet explorer. I did the flash the second time last night and still not resolved.
One connection I didn't do according to the instructions is I grounded the e-brake wire from the stereo. I taped up the maestro light green e-brake wire. Could that have any impact on how the system operates?

The parking brake wire has zero impact on the issue you're having.

Hello... I wanted to see what would happen if a tire lost some pressure so I deflated one of my tires, drove around for a bit and the low pressure light came on the dash. I looked at the vehicle info page and saw this-"pressure sensor error" but no indication which tire was the culprit. Hope this info helps as you try to diagnose the issue.
Thanks

We have found a bug in the current firmware and are working on fixing it. Like I said in the above post, you can roll your firmware back, and that should fix you, too. Whichever you would like to do. I will update here when the live firmware is updated, so everyone is updated.

We will likely put the firmware live within the next day or so. At that point, you can re-flash and it will give you the most up-to-date firmware.

Did the OEM USB allow you to pull data from your phone when the OEM radio was installed? It is possible that the 12 year old OEM USB port cannot read the data from a newer phone. Have you tried using a USB flash drive with music files on it to see if the OEM USB module can read that data?
Wondering if you got the chance to address this issue in the update?
I am using a USB stick with media on it and not a phone. The stock USB connection wasn't able to read data from phone, it only charged it. It was able to play media from a USB stick though. That's what I'm trying to do which isn't working with the Maestro RR
thx

We tested and were unable to find any issues with the OEM USB. Can you provide a few more specifics about what doesn't work?
Ex: Do you have data on the screen, but no sound? Is the USB screen giving you an error message?

I have no data and no sound. There's no error message - just an empty page

https://photos.app.goo.gl/18BJXSJRoWbB1Xhc9
If the link works:
Image 1 - what I see when I select USB media as an input - skip forward or reverse buttons active
Image 2 - USB media input with USB stick disconnected - Skip forward or reverse buttons inactive
Image 3 - when I try to search for media - only shows "loading" but nothing loads

When we tested, we did not find any issues; Let's have you update to the current firmware, v 1.6, and reset the RR. It's possible something with the USB might be broken in v1.3.

Update; We tested and suspect that the format of the flash drive may be an issue. Here are our test results:

NTFS format with nothing (No music) on the key caused the AUX/MEDIA to display nothing (like No Media picture)
NTFS format with Music (MP3) on the key still caused the AUX/MEDIA to display nothing (like No Media picture)
FAT32 format with nothing (No Music) on the key caused the AUX/MEDIA to display nothing (like No Media picture)
FAT32 format with music (MP3) on it played and displayed properly (Like the Media Playing picture)

The fact that you get the AUX/MEDIA screens indicates that the USB controller is properly detected and is communicating properly. At this point, we would recommend trying a flash drive that is formatted FAT32.

Haa. I was just about to report that I got the same results on 1.6 firmware. I'll do as recommended and report back. Thanks
