2014 Prius C not getting OBDii connection via TO2 kit

Post by ultraman333 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 10:41 am

Hi,

My Maestro RR and TO2 kit is not seeing the OBDii connection. I've double checked my serial number for the NEX4200, flashed multiple times, soft reset via OEM setup, hard reset via button on the RR, but no OBD connection. Steering wheel controls work. From looking online, it looks like I need the ODB cable that comes with the TO1 kit which connects to the CAN+ and CAN- lines instead of this single cable ODB connection from the TO2 kit?

If you look in the 28 pin plug on the TO2 harness, there is a set of Yellow/Brown and Red/Brown wires. If you trace across those and look on the factory side, do you have wires populated there? If not, you would just need to tap into those connections, extend them, and hook to pins 6 and 14 at the OBD2. Red/Brown goes to pin 6, Yellow/Brown to pin 14.

Hi there,

Thank you for the quick response. I'll need to check that in the next few days as I'll need to find time to take the stereo out again. I guess I'll need to run two new lines to the OBD connector as the one that comes with the TO2 kit is a single line to pin 7 of OBD connector?

Regards,
Alfred.

That is correct. You will need to extend both the red/brown and yellow/brown lines.

Hi,

Just had a chance to take the stereo apart again to check on the red/brown and yellow/brown wires and they are connected to what appears to be the Rear Camera connector which I don't have in my Prius. I spliced the two wires into the OBDii connectors and still no connection detected. Also noticed the wire connected to the k-line of the OBDii connector is connected on the Maestro RR side into the red wire? Do I need to do anything with that?

Regards,
Alfred.

If the K line isn't giving you any problems, you do'nt need to do anything with it.

Try resetting your RR after you've moved the wires. If that still doesn't work, it might be best and the quickest resolution for you to give us a call when you're in the car so we can go over everything with you in real-time.

So I have a 2014 Prius IV with Factory JBL with NAV...I am trying to install a Pioneer NEX 4100 with a Maestro RR with the T02 harness...

I have done two other vehicles with success...

I just pulled everything apart and this one the connectors are seriously NOT THE SAME in matching with the factory connectors?!?!

I think one connector matched up and the antenna and USB..(which I had the proper adaptors purchased)...

There was a 3 way adaptor on the back of the factory radio which I looked at trying to use but it only got me part of the way....

Your drawings on directions are somewhat lacking in connector info...is there any additional information on this vehicle and the T02 kit??

It sounds like you may need the TO1 harness instead. You are right in the year range where Toyota was not consistent with their harnessing which makes it very difficult for everyone. You probably have a main 20 pin connector in the car that has larger terminals on the outside and smaller terminals inside. If that is the case it's the TO1 harness.
