DSR1 Cutting Out in Mustang

Post by copley345 » Fri Jun 14, 2019 4:17 pm

I have the DSR1 and AeF01 harness. The system has been working as normal until recently when after about 15 minutes of driving, the stereo will start "muting" itself every 30 seconds or so, for about 10 seconds. This cycles about 5 times then i have no signal at all until I turn off the car for 10 minutes plus. Then the symptoms will repeat.

The only thing that has changed recently is the temperature, it is now summer.

I checked the amp with a separate input during the symptoms and there is no issue with the amp overheating or malfunctioning. It will play a signal from a seperate device. So I have isolated it to the signal (DSR1). This is with any input (carplay, FM, aux).

When the issue is happening, it appears that the DSR1 is blinking about 14 times between the white light (normally the blink is 7 times green, solid white).

Any help?

Luckily, in this vehicle, everything is analog, so a meter will be able to get to the root of the issue. Meter the AC voltage on the aFO3 harness (on the white or gray 2-pin plugs) when there is no sound. If this still has AC voltage and the DSR1 has no output, the Rockford board inside the DSR1 may be bad.

Do you mean DC voltage?

If AC voltage, how many volts am i looking for?

No, I mean AC voltage. Place one lead on the solid white and one lead on the white/black. The voltage will jump around a bit, and increase as you turn the volume up.
