2017 4Runner with Sony 2.6 firmware

Post by Rvatoytoa » Thu May 23, 2019 2:26 pm

1. What is new in the 2.6 firmware? Wanted to see if there are any features. Mine does not do much with the steering wheel control except volume and skip Song. There is a big delay when skipping songs.

2. How do you upgrade the Firmware? Do you have to remove the unit form the car or can you flash it from the head unit?

The firmware update to v2.6 is only pertinent to Pioneer radios. It was just a small bug fix. Long story short as far as updating goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. People that religiously update end up introducing strange ghost issues that we're unable to replicate and fix.

@Dara: Sorry to threadcrap, but can you tell me specifically what fixes there were for Pioneer? I have a DMH-1500NEX and am having some random issues with sound dropping. Here is my post: viewtopic.php?f=404&t=19378&p=77948&hilit=Venza#p77948

It's for metadata display in the cluster. The update has nothing to do with audio.
