Maestro RR disables VW BT and Voice Command

Post by Trebor »

2013 VW GTI. Installed Maestro RR with Kenwood DMX7705S. Multiple issues:

1) Purple/White Reverse signal pass through didn't work - had to hardwire
2) Ditto Light green parking brake
3) Once I'd resolved these I found that the VW BT capability is not available (despite being selected on the radio) and the VW Voice Command is disabled.

Flashed and re-flashed the Maestro as different vehicle then 2012 GTI, then 2014 GTI etc., etc... nothing works.

Discussed 1) and 2) with tech rep at idatalink and was told there's a firmware problem. I'm assuming issue #3 is the same?

It's really not acceptable.

What specifically about the factory BT system isn't working? Just the voice activation, or the entire system? And what version of the Kenwood firmware is on the Kenwood radio? Are you trying to use CarPlay or Android Auto at all as well?

Hi,

So I'm also having this issue, my vehicle is a 2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI Sel Premium.

When I pair my phone to the OEM Bluetooth VW PHONE the radio (Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX) does sync with MDI module and recognizes that it's connected.

When making phone calls the radio will recognize that I'm making a call. But there is no audio of the call.

For voice commands the radio knows that I pressed it but all that pops up on the radio is an (i) in the bottom left corner and does nothing. ( When I use apple car play and press the button Siri doesn't activate)

Your issue may be as simple as the audio connection from the RR to the aftermarket headunit being plugged int the wrong spot or not at all. The connection you need is a 3 pin black connector on the Maestro side, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other, not the blue 4 pin connector. It should be connected to the only black 3 pin on the RR and the port labeled AUX on the pioneer radio
