2007 Golf city with HC1?

Post by Erik » Fri Jan 04, 2019 7:53 pm

Hey guys and Gals!

my wife's kid has a 2007 golf city with no door locks, no electrical sunroof no nothing... ;)
Auto transmission and no need to push on brake pedale to start the car....
My question is can i flash the HC with firmware of the City available and still make the remote starter work?
Yes i know about the key wrap....

Just wondering if it will work.... Spoke to one of your friendly guys at tech support but forgot to ask a couple of questions....

Thank you!

There is no usable data on your vehicle. You can flash it for "Other" and just use the hardwire firmware. It will be a basic installation where you have to connect everything analog.

Erik this would be considered an old school install. It's the way we did things before their was a bypass modules. The key wrap can be done with a Directed 556U if you don't know how to make one yourself. The rest of the installation is analog. Power, ground, ignition, accessory, starter, parking lights, brake, door locks and tach will all be connected from the remote start to the vehicle.

When flashing a module, you normally pick a vehicle year make and model. Since your car is not covered because it's a stripped down version with no usable data, you have to choose other.

ok i understand the others firmware.... Thanks! for the analog connections no problems...
The only question remaining is the key wrap thing... Saw a couple of diagrams cutting the transponder wire and relay with a key wraped... ground when running activates the relay....
Just not shure if it's the right way to do it....
Sorry for the bother with my questions...

Save yourself a headache and buy a 556U. Power, growund and ground when running. It comes with a box for the key and a loop to go around the key cylinder. All you have to do is follow the instructions.

Thanks for the input...
I like having headaches.... The 556u is basicaly a '' we did all the wiring for you'' thing....A relay is a relay... Not black magic.... i know how they work...

New to the remote start but 22 years in electrical diag... I like to know what i am doing...
and understanding it...
It served me well so far.... ;)

I will do more research for the wrap since it seems a lost secret! ;)

But thank you for your help and directions...
