JVC KW 740bt maestro and 2017 toyota 86 issues

Post by alphasaur » Wed Jan 02, 2019 7:04 pm

Hello,

I recently ordered the JVC KW740bt, maestro, and Maestro TO1 harness from crutchfield. I paid the extra few dollars to have crutchfield wire up the harness.

Install:
Audio appears to work great (far better sound than stock, or perhaps placebo)
Mic works
Android auto/usb works

Issues:
When the canbus is hooked up gauges work however there is an issue where when I press the brake pedal, camera is triggered on the head unit? Going into reverse does not appear to trigger camera on head unit.

I have not successfully wired up the camera and am waiting for a pac harness to arrive as I tried splicing the cables from the 24 pin plug unsuccessfully.

According to maestro site the Maestro Harness should be the SUB01 harness??

Anyone have any insight?

I used this video for guidance, it looks like they also used the maestro to1 harness instead of the sub harness.

You need the SU2 wiring harness. That is most likely root of your problem

In the video I linked it looks like they were successful with the to1 harness

are the plugs the same?? I don't have any issues with the plugs.

Gotcha,

So just for clarifiction, crutchfield should have sent this with the su2 harness? Not the to1? There is no way to get it to work with the to1 I'm assuming due to the latest flash being for su2?

yeah, you are going to want to get the SU2. its just to much work to repin harnesses properly vs rewiring the new harness.

So I got the su2 harness and wired it up. Everything is working correctly now!

The only "issue" (in quotes because it was pretty minor) with the su2 harness is I had to cut off the included adapter for the camera and splice it into the 4 camera wires. The 86 has a 24 pin harness for the camera, included camera harness adapter is 16 I believe. no biggie just a heads up.
