2016 Corolla - replacement Pioneer AVH-2330NEX minor issues

Post by raymond10078 » Tue Jan 01, 2019 8:29 pm

The gauges display:

THROTTLE (%): only sweeps up to 63%. Also, this input seems to relate to the throttle pedal and not the throttle plate. As the actual throttle plate is controlled by the computer, the travel of the pedal and throttle plate are not identical. Can the actual throttle plate be monitored?

LOAD (%): Sweeps to 96% - but achieves full sweep at low engine load. No where near full load.

FUEL: Display remains at 0%.

Anybody have any recommendations or known solutions?

so first things first, in order to get fuel info you need to set the fuel tank capacity size in the maestro menus. once you do this start the vehicle and re validate the PID's in the maestro menus

Thank you for the FUEL solution.

Other info: Both the Maestro and the Pioneer are using the latest firmware.

Just a brief update.

I've noted that the THROTTLE indicator maximum varies slightly. Sometimes it is 63, other times 64 or 65; but never higher (so far anyway).

I've also noted that the THROTTLE isn't monitoring the pedal, but something else. When the cruise control is set, the pedal is fully up, and the THROTTLE indicator still provides readings. Possibly, it is indicating actual throttle plate movement.

What is yet not understood (by me) - is that, from a stop, full engine power is not available until about 30 MPH. It is understood that this power limiting function is due to the mechanical limits of the CVT - it can't handle full engine power from a stop. That's my issue - not yours. I'm an engineer, and I just want to KNOW. Ha!

At a minimum, the issue is likely just one of scaling of the THROTTLE gauge.

The information we pass along to the radio to display comes to us from the OBD diagnostic protocol. How the vehicle get that info (what sensor, what reading, what system as a who) is something that the vehicle manufacturer decides. Unfortunately we don't have insight as to WHAT each gauge reading references, just what we are passed in that diagnostic protocol.
