2018 F150 4-inch display

Post by Runner421 » Sun Dec 23, 2018 5:32 pm

Bought a Jensen VX7528. Received all the instructions that indicate to retain the factory OEM Ford Sync module. Bought through Crutchfield - had them provide the OEM harness service.
The brackets do not line up with the sync module. When the sync is connected - there is no place to connect the factory back up camera to - using the OBD II connector; no video. IF-the sync module is removed, the factory harness can be connected to a harness/connector that provides connection and video for the backup camera. But - instructions are for the sync module to be retained. Why the confusion? Anyone . . .?

It is not possible to retain sync in the 2018 F150. You should be using the 54 pin connector that originally plugged into the sync module for your backup camera. You should hook the black 2-pin plug from the 54-pin sync harness to the black 2-pin on the FO2 harness. This eliminates a need to use the OBD2 plug.

Thanks - that helps with the back up camera issue. Appreciate the response.
