2016 Chrysler 200 - Auto-Dimming mirror

Post by MrSlippers » Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:56 pm

I replaced my 2016 Chrysler 200 factory radio with a Pioneer AVH-2440NEX and a Maestro RR. Generally very happy with it.

As the days have gotten shorter, I recently noticed that my auto-dimming rear view mirror no longer seems to function. Is this expected, is it fixable?

The only explanation I can think of is that the mirror is no longer getting power since the radio is no longer using the built-in microphones that are built into the mirror.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

In that car, only the microphone wiring runs to the OEM radio. The power comes from a fuse in the engine compartment, a 10A fuse (fuse #95). I would check and make sure that's not blown. Otherwise, the day/night brightness is controlled via data line, by the light sensor on the dash of the vehicle.

Does the car have auto on/off headlights? Do those work?

Hmm, I do have auto-on headlights and those are still working.

I just checked fuse #95 and it appears to be in tact.

Some further research indicates that there is a switch to turn the function on or off in the Uconnect system.

Here is a short video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0LC1ORsGD0

I don't remember seeing that option in my old radio, but I may have missed it. I also only had the 5.0 UConnect which had less features that the screen in the video.

uConnect is built into the OEM radio, so when you take the radio out, uConnect is gone with it. If the setting is truly stored within that system, that would explain why it is no longer functioning.
