'14 Outback HK to KW DMX7705S

Post by onemileradius » Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:03 pm

Swapped out my factory Harmon Kardon System with a Kenwood DMX77005S using the RR and SU2 harness. It seems the flash for my RR setup is a little screwy for steering wheel controls. Volume switch changes tracks, scan switch raises volume but once i let it go the volume drops to 0. Also the factory back-up camera does not seem to work. When in reverse the guidelines show up but otherwise the screen is dark. Another poster had this issue with their '16 and a different head unit but I'm wondering if it's the same cause, the 12v isn't getting reduced to 6v for the camera. They found a solution installing a step down module but for me, without images to guide me through I'm a little weary of cutting into the harnesses. Anyone have any ideas?

Flash as a 2011 Outback with Harman Kardon Bluetooth and this will fix your steering wheel buttons. In the Outback/Legacy, Subaru made 2 identical looking steering wheels with two different sets of internal button configurations, so there are a few different outcomes you can possibly get, depending on what you flash for.

Does it matter that it only gives me the SU1 harness option even though I'm using the SU2?

The only difference on the back end is that the resistance values in the wheel we look for from the car are different, which is what will make it work for you.
