Honda Civic Si 2015 Mic and Imid Questions

Post by nicholai_l » Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:08 pm

Hello,

I have recently installed a Maestro RR and Alpine ILX-107 into my 2015 Civic Si with navigation. As it stands the handsfree mic doesn’t work, and I would prefer to use the OEM mic and not the one that comes with the Alpine unit. After looking through the official Honda techinfo wiring diagrams, I was unable to find any mention of the OEM microphone (mounted in the middle of the map lights) in any of the connectors I looked at, am I missing something?

Additionally, the iMid display time cannot be modified without the stock head unit as it stands, which is a major issue for me. Does the maestro support this?

Unfortunately the OEM mic is only designed to be used with the OEM Bluetooth system, so the Alpine mic will need to be installed.

As for the clock, is the time wrong? There will be no way to adjust the clock however the radio should be sending out the proper time to the clock. If the time is off please let us know and we may have a way to fix that.

Hello,

I ended up installing the Alpine Mic into the map light area where the 2013 had the HandsFreeLink microphone, thankfully Honda kept the perforations. Additionally, I was able to use some 18ga wire to correctly wire the reverse light (2015 Civic Si is manual so connector J-7 is the reverse line). What I still cannot figure out is the time: the iMid will not sync with the Alpine units time despite plugging in the maestro and reflashing it multiple times ( as a 2015 Civic with 7” screen and Bluetooth, which works besides setting time on the iMid). I would prefer to not have to hit up the dealer just to have them adjust my iMid time, so any proposed fixes would be welcomed.

Thanks!

do this, remove the Maestro unit and go back and reflash it however this time select the tab that says "Flash by user firmware". There will be a firmware in there, click it, and continue on with the flash. This firmware should fix the clock issue and allow the Alpine's clock and the vehicles clock to sync up. Please let me know how this turns out for you.

I got off work today and clicked the "flash by user firmware" option, but when I get to the Select Radio Brand button only JVC and Kenwood Appear! That is, I can select the 7" screen and Bluetooth Steering wheel but in the option for radio brand I cannot select Alpine, therefore I cannot select the ILX-107.

Just to clarify- you have tried setting the clock from the iMid and it doesn't work? (Some cars should allow you to set it through the iMid, whereas the radio should send its clock information directly to the iMid).

I just wanted to get a little bit more clarity on it so we can get this figured out for you. Thanks,

Yes, I have scoured the menus of iMid using the steering wheel and have come up with absolutely nothing regarding time settings. On the 2015 Civic Si, the time was originally set through the Honda OEM radio, with no other alternatives.

Thanks so much for the clarification- I have a meeting with the engineers today, so this will get discussed, and I will have an update for you later today.

UPDATE:

I did a little digging, and the answer is: Your car is technically not covered by HO2. The HO2 solution is for 7" screens without navigation. The OEM Navigation equipped radio is listed as covered on our site, but not by HO2 (it's a different firmware). Because the majority of the features are working in your car, it's good news- we're working on covering the car. We have to see a navigation-equipped car, do some testing, and we will likely have a fix for the clock when we officially cover the car (likely within the next few weeks).

Does that mean I have to buy a new harness too? That’d be annoying!

No, not at all! It just means re-flashing your Rr when your car is officially covered by this solution.

Alright, thanks for being so helpful! I guess I’ll just live with the incorrect clock for now. Also, my Car Guages on the Alpine monetarily switch to zero when the car is decelerating, so it will go 60-0-59-0-58 and so on. Is this a settings issue?

We have a test firmware for you for your clock. To get it, flash as a non-navigation civic. Hit 'flash your module', then select the 'flash by user firmware' tab. There will be a firmware called "ADS-RR(SR)-HO2-DS Set Time V1 (512) 1.2". In this firmware, the iMid's clock should follow the radio's clock.

I just uploaded it to my car this morning, and it doesn’t appear to work. The time on the radio is 6:30AM, but the clock time is 3:34 on the iMid. Hopefully this issue can be resolved!

If you try setting the time on the clock, does the iMid change? I want to see if, perhaps, the radio must see a change in time for the iMid to follow, or if it changes when you update the time (and it is still wrong). This will help us get to the bottom of what the car is (or is not) seeing.

I tried setting the time using the settings menu of the Alpine ILX right now and even upon changing it the time is off, seems like the iMid clock just doesn’t want to sync! If it helps, the car I own was built as a 2015 Civic Si with navigation, but strangely enough before delivery they removed the navigation head unit and replaced it with a non-nav unit. I know this because A) there is a GPS antenna cable behind the dash, B) the iMid menu has a “turn by turn” option (which does nothing) and C) I accessed the Honda “techinfo” website and my car had its radio changed before it was bought, which lines up. Hopefully this information helps, I love the Maestro so far besides the gauges being only blue, the time issue, and a weird bug when accelerating where the maestro says the car is at 0mph briefly. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful product and the steering wheel controls work flawlessly!
