No buttons, add buttons

Post by hot roddy » Sun Nov 18, 2018 7:40 pm

G'day,

2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 regular cab. Installing a Pioneer W8400. The steering wheel (from the factory) only has cruise control buttons. Is it possible for me to flash the module as though there were radio control buttons on the steering wheel? Then at some point add radio control buttons to the steering wheel?

Thanks

It isn't that simple. The dealer has to re-flash the truck to enable the buttons to work, and from what I have heard from other people trying to do the same thing, most dealers will not do this.

Thank you Ms Dara for the prompt response,

Would I need to flash the Maestro Rr with steering wheel controls in order to add '3rd party' aftermarket controls to the steering wheel. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075R ... UTF8&psc=1

One more question (for now anyways ;-) can the Rr be reflashed?

Thanks,

We would have nothing to do with a 3rd party piece like the link you attached. That looks as if it would wire directly to an aftermarket radio it supports. If you get the factory steering wheel with the buttons on it, you would need to have the BCM programmed as Dara described and flash the RR for the correct wheel you have installed.
