2011 Chevy Tahoe Bose/XM/Bluetooth no audio input for Apple Carplay

Post by jslitwiller » Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:02 pm

Hi! Just finished the install with Pioneer AVH-4200NEX in our 2011 Tahoe with factory Bose, XM, rear seat entertainment (AVGM harness) and steering wheel controls w/ Bluetooth. We don't use OnStar so don't care about that. Everything is working fine, except when I push the steering wheel 'voice' button there seems to be no input to the Pioneer. I.E., it doesn't "hear" me. Is this a wiring issue? Do we need to use the pioneer mic? If so, can it be plugged in along with the audio input from the maestro?

Thanks for the help!

To use CarPlay, you must install the microphone that comes with the radio. When you activate Pioneer's bluetooth or voice commands, it is looking directly on its mic input for your voice. If nothing is plugged in, it won't hear you.

Thanks Dara! I see you are active and responsive on this forum, so thank you! My confusion was that I thought the mic and aux shared an input but after further investigation I see that there are in fact separate connection points for both.
