2008 Expedition - cutting wires?

Post by joeb1kinobe » Mon Oct 29, 2018 11:08 am

So the first step in the directions say to cut the white, gray, green and purple RCA tips and wire in to the corresponding wires on the aftermarket radio.

Just how much "rewiring" do I need to do? The maestro (RR) harness I bought plugs into everything that the factory radio had plugged into it.

Just how complicated is this going to be for a weekend installer (me)?

This is for a Pioneer AVH-24400NEX going into a 2008 Ford Expedition, with factory subwoofer and without Sync.

The installation is pretty straight forward. The connections into the vehicle are all plug an play, no splicing. The only splicing you need to do is the aftermarket harness to our vehicle specific one.

Sounds good.

I looked over the idatalink harness and the aftermarket for the new radio and started putting wires together.

Seems like I have one pink wire that doesn't match anything but I believe there's nothing it needs to connect to for my vehicle.

You won't need the pink, brown, or yellow/black. Make sure those three are left disconnected.

Ok, had a successful installation except the factory sub isn’t working. I have the sub in rca connected to the white sub out rca.

do you have the blue/white wire in the FO1 harness connected to the blue/white wire coming from your aftermarket radio?

Yes, I have everything connected between the after market harness and the FO1 harness except for the pink, brown, and the yellow/black wires.

Make sure that you have the Subwoofer RCA plugged into the SW RCA output of the Pioneer. Also, make sure the Subwoofer is turned on in the audio settings.

It's the one labeled "SW". They engrave it on the metal next to the ports.

Ok, label for “ SW”. No RCA plugs on the back whatsoever.

There’s a “WR” for a wired remote and a place labeled “radio out”.

They are labeled "SWR" and "SWL". See attached. Please make sure your subwoofer RCAs are plugged in here.
See the picture below and where the arrows are pointing- this is an image of the back of the 2440.

I can't post a pic of the back of my Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX but I have no RCA connections on the back.

Sorry for the confusion- you told me a different radio model in your initial post.

See the install manual for your radio- the black plug in the bottom right of the radio is where the RCAs are. You have to take it out of the Pioneer box and plug it in.
