2004 Durango w/ Kenwood DNX893S Audio Cable Question

Post by reverendmilk » Fri Oct 05, 2018 2:37 am

I'm setting up a Kenwood DNX893S for installation into my 04 Durango. This is a base model with no steering wheel controls, no amplifier and no DVD/rear entertainment system. Is the audio cable from the Maestro to the kenwood needed? I would like to use my Kenwood's port for the AUX connection that i was planning on remote running to the console. What is the purpose of the audio cable from Maestro to the kenwood in this application?

The audio cable is NOT needed in your application. You can skip installing it altogether. If we were retaining a factory feature for you, such as OEM satellite radio (which we're unable to do in this vehicle), that's how we would get the sound from the car into your radio. But since your install is more basic, it's not needed.
